Holy, Holy, Holy

Revelation 4: Holy, Holy, Holy: The Charm of Home

4 Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”2 And instantly I was in the Spirit,[a] and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. 3 The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a rainbow. 4 Twenty-four thrones surrounded him, and twenty-four elders sat on them. They were all clothed in white and had gold crowns on their heads. 5 From the throne came flashes of lightning and the rumble of thunder. And in front of the throne were seven torches with burning flames. This is the sevenfold Spirit[b] of God.6 In front of the throne was a shiny sea of glass, sparkling like crystal.
In the center and around the throne were four living beings, each covered with eyes, front and back. 7 The first of these living beings was like a lion; the second was like an ox; the third had a human face; and the fourth was like an eagle in flight. 8 Each of these living beings had six wings, and their wings were covered all over with eyes, inside and out. Day after day and night after night they keep on saying,
“Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God, the Almighty—
the one who always was, who is, and who is still to come.”
9 Whenever the living beings give glory and honor and thanks to the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever), 10 the twenty-four elders fall down and worship the one sitting on the throne (the one who lives forever and ever). And they lay their crowns before the throne and say,
11 “You are worthy, O Lord our God,
to receive glory and honor and power.
For you created all things,
and they exist because you created what you pleased.”
Revelation 4

The throne in heaven is real. The Lord will rule over heaven and earth and everyone will worship Him.

Garden Picnic Tea

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
Today it is time to get outside again and have a pretend picnic.  I am working in the garden and it was a perfect spot to set my picnic basket.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
Just behind the picnic basket is the broccoli.  That looks like I will be picking it this week.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
The picnic basket is filled with the spring and summer Brambly Hedge china and a lace table runner from Heritage Lace.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
I found a book on the shelf for the picture and a pressed fall leaf fell out of it.  I am know to stick plant life in books and forget that it is there.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
I normally grow the cut and come again zinnias but this year I tried this low bush variety and they are really pretty.  They have been providing non-stop blooms for the whole season.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
I am so happy with my snapdragons.  I grew them from seed. They are just starting to bloom.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
One of the sunflowers opened up this week too.  These sunflowers have blooms all down the stalk.  I haven't ever grown any like this before.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
Have you been in the garden lately?  I can't believe it is August already!  That fall leaf is a reminder to start planning for the change of seasons.

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
for wisdom and power are his.
He causes the changes of the times and seasons,
makes kings and unmakes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge
to those who understand.
                                                     ~Daniel 2:20-21

Thank you to Heritage Lace for providing the Floret lace table runner.

Time to Can Tea

Time to Can Tea: The Charm of Home
This week for tea I am getting ready to can.  Do any of you can?  I have a lot of strawberries and blackberries.  I have already made strawberry jam so, as you can see, the blackberries are ripe and it's time to make something with them.

Time to Can Tea: The Charm of Home
I am participating in Ball's Can-It-Forward this Friday, July 22, 2016.  Now in it's 6th year, Can-It Forward was born from a desire to share the joy and benefits of canning.
For more information about International Can-It Forward Day or Ball brand home canning visit, FreshPreserving.com

Time to Can Tea: The Charm of Home
Tea is in this Royal Albert cup today.  The pattern is Petit Point.  I won that teacup from a dear blogging friend Sandi, at Rose Chintz Cottage.  Thank you Sandi, I am still enjoying it!

Time to Can Tea: The Charm of Home
I have my vintage apron with chicken scratch embroidery out today. Canning reminds me of my Grandmother and farm living.  The tea cake is blackberry bread.

Blue glass mason jars and The All New Ball Book of Canning and Preserving provided by Ball Canning.  Join me Friday and I will share a recipe out of this cookbook with my blackberries.

The End of Summer Tea

This is going to be my last summer tea.  How did that happen?  Summer flew right by.  But, before it goes I am having tea; of course, and enjoying some of the last roses that have bloomed in my garden.

Heritage Lace Heirloom Table Topper
My tea table is graced with this lovely lace table topper from Heritage Lace.  It is a 58-inch x 58-inch square of lace in the pattern Heirloom.  It brings a stately quality to any tea just by casually placing it on the table.

Heritage Lace Heirloom Table Topper
I put it on my little mahogany tea side table and it dripped off of the table spilling lace to the floor.  I love anything dripping with lace!

Flower Therapy Tea: The Charm of Home
Here is the larger version of that tablecloth in my Mad Tea from this summer.  It really makes a stunning impression on any size table.

Thank you very much to Heritage Lace for sponsoring today's tea.  The products described were provided to The Charm of Home for this post.  The written description was entirely my own.

Words of Wisdom

Words of Wisdom Tea: The Charm of Home
How much better it is to get wisdom than gold.  Proverbs 16:16

Cinnamon Roll Cake: The Charm of Home
Wisdom is knowing how little we know.

Just some fun quotes about wisdom to go with my owl mug today.  Here is to all the college kids back this fall at hitting the books to expand their wisdom.  This would be a great recipe for college students.  This is a Cinnamon Roll Cake.  It is mix and bake easy!  I'll share the recipe tomorrow.

Nature Lover

My tea today is highlighting the nature lover in me.  I have kind of taken for granted what I enjoy for a long time.  I tend to give way too much to my family and don't have much left for me at the end of the day.  The wonderful thing about this blog is that it has been a long voyage of self discovery. The excavating seems to get a little deeper all of the time and something that has been a renewed discovery for me lately is that I am a big nature lover.  I forget that I grew up outside everyday.

This was my playground.  I took this picture this weekend.  It is a view from about where my bedroom window used to be as a little girl.  There is around 300 acres here that I so enjoyed.  I wasn't afraid of anything and didn't let much stop me from where I roamed from a very early age.

It wouldn't be unusual for me to come in from a day's adventure and have a handful of things similar to this, minus the tea and the gardening book.

My father grew up on this farm also and he actually sent my son this hummingbird nest in the mail.  My son is fantastic at finding four leaf clovers.  He found this one for me.

The tea mug is the Heritage Rose pattern by Roy Kirkham.   The Kitchen Gardens book is one of my very favorite gardening books.  It is illustrated by Tasha Tudor.  Such a good practical little gardening book about herbs and vegetables.

For tea today I really enjoyed getting out in the backyard and pretending I was young again loading up my tea tray with a collection from nature.  I had to stop and notice the little things like how the columbine are dropping their blossoms in the bird bath.  I thought it was kind of pretty.

The clematis has found the lilac bush and decided to use it for a trellis.

The iris have bloomed.  If I hadn't gone out for tea I wouldn't have even noticed them.  The iris are actually from my Grandmother's garden in Kentucky.  I brought them here where I live years ago.

Here is another planter in the yard that is loaded with a vibrant collection of colors from the local garden center.

Are you a nature lover?  Do you still get out and enjoy it?  If you don't, why not?
