Crocheted Lace & Tea

Crocheted Lace & Tea: The Charm of Home
I am having a very tranquil tea today for harvest time. The beautiful crocheted lace table topper is called Blue Ribbon Crochet by Heritage Lace. The lovely linen sets the mood for a peaceful and reflective teatime.

Crocheted Lace & Tea: The Charm of Home
This table topper is made of 100% cotton and is machine washable but the color makes it look like a piece of linen on the table.   Cotton is so much easier to care for and so pretty draping over the tea table.   The napkins are made to match in the Blue Ribbon Crochet Napkin pattern.

Crocheted Lace & Tea: The Charm of Home
The crocheted lace is so elegant it can be more formal or for a casual tea such as this.

My tea cup is Independence Ironstone by Castleton.  The teapot is ironstone but unmarked.  Their shapes complement each other perfectly.

Crocheted Lace & Tea: The Charm of Home
I love fall colors but, I equally love the the neutrals which reflect the empyreal light in a way that no color can match.

Thank you very much to Heritage Lace for sponsoring today's tea.  The product described was provided to The Charm of Home for this post. The written description was entirely my own.

September Tea/Garden Journal

September Tea/Garden Journal: The Charm of Home
It is time for the September Tea/Garden Journal.  The garden is now down to just a few enjoyable flowers and herbs.  We had a very wet year here with fungus and pests that were a problem.  In my garden today I have zinnias, mums, rosemary, crabapples, and the lavender is having it's second bloom.

September Tea/Garden Journal: The Charm of Home
September always seems like a romantic month to me.  It is where summer gives us it's last kiss and fall ushers in the coziness of cooler temps.  It was sunny in this window a few minutes ago and when the clouds rolled over I started taking my pictures.  I always will prefer cloudy moody shots over bright sun.  I love the way the light is coming through this beautiful lace curtain.  Lace curtain provided by Heritage Lace.

My teacup today is a brown transferware pattern called Charlotte made by Royal Staffordshire.

The teapot is adorned with oak leaves on it's top that remind me of fall. Teapot made by Home Essentials.

My book is The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden.

Thank you to Heritage Lace for sponsoring me and providing these Coventry Lace Curtain panels.

The Last Rose of Summer

S'mores Crescent Pastry: The Charm of Home
It is literally the last rose of summer this week.  I might have a few more in the garden but by then it will be fall.

The Last Rose of Summer: The Charm of Home
The post is inspired by this little antique teacup I found recently.  I liked it so much because it was brown.  I don't see these teacups made in brown ever.  It has no marking on the bottom so, I don't know the maker.

S'mores Crescent Pastry: The Charm of Home
I had sheet music to fit the post.  It is really old piano/organ sheet music.  I would say at least from the early 1900's.

S'mores Crescent Pastry: The Charm of Home
The treat today is a s'mores crescent pastry. They are super easy to make and the children loved them.

S'mores Crescent Pastry: The Charm of Home
I used a package of ready-made Pillsbury Crescent rolls.  I rolled them out and spread marshmallow fluff and milk chocolate chips over that.  Then I rolled them up and baked as directed.  When finished I melted (in the microwave) some Pillsbury Fluffy Vanilla Marshmallow frosting and drizzled that over them and then I melted some of the chocolate chips (also, in the microwave) and drizzled that over the rolls. And then you have a plain crescent roll turned pastry!

Enjoy this last bit of summer.  It is going..going...gone.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life." ~John 3:16

A Little More Time in the Garden...

Late Summer Tea Among the Ferns
I got back in the garden again this weekend and did some late summer clean up.  I paused to have a little tea.  I cleaned the dead ferns out of the front flower bed.  The astonishing thing is that there were ferns left that were pretty.  At this time of year my ferns are always burnt; but, we have had a lot of rain and the ferns persevered.

Late Summer Tea Among the Ferns
The mug has antique botanical ferns (circa 1860) printed all over it.  The mug is labeled Rosanna, L'Orangerie.

The handy lace tray also from Heritage Lace is especially nice for heading out into the garden with some tea.
Thank you to Heritage Lace for providing the tea towel and the lace tray.  They are perfect for a late summer tea in the garden.

Garden Picnic Tea

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
Today it is time to get outside again and have a pretend picnic.  I am working in the garden and it was a perfect spot to set my picnic basket.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
Just behind the picnic basket is the broccoli.  That looks like I will be picking it this week.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
The picnic basket is filled with the spring and summer Brambly Hedge china and a lace table runner from Heritage Lace.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
I found a book on the shelf for the picture and a pressed fall leaf fell out of it.  I am know to stick plant life in books and forget that it is there.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
I normally grow the cut and come again zinnias but this year I tried this low bush variety and they are really pretty.  They have been providing non-stop blooms for the whole season.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
I am so happy with my snapdragons.  I grew them from seed. They are just starting to bloom.

One of the sunflowers opened up this week too.  These sunflowers have blooms all down the stalk.  I haven't ever grown any like this before.

Garden Picnic Tea: The Charm of Home
Have you been in the garden lately?  I can't believe it is August already!  That fall leaf is a reminder to start planning for the change of seasons.

Blessed be the name of God forever and ever,
for wisdom and power are his.
He causes the changes of the times and seasons,
makes kings and unmakes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge
to those who understand.

Thank you to Heritage Lace for providing the Floret lace table runner.
