June Visual Tea/Garden Journal

June Visual Tea/Garden Journal: The Charm of Home
Today I am trying a new thing inspired from The Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady by Edith Holden.  I have seen this book many times on other blogs.  I have taken the inspiration of this naturalist's journal and used it as concept for my tea. I have always wanted to start a garden journal but, I will never sketch it...ever. So, why not use the flowers, herbs, vegetables, and fruit from my yard in pictures that create a visual journal that I can keep and take notes on.

And, of course while I am pondering all of this I am having tea!  The teacup is by Grace's Teaware.  What's in my cup?  A raspberry leaf tea of course.

June Visual Tea/Garden Journal: The Charm of Home
Here; at the end of June, in my garden I have daisies, roses, zinnias, buddleia, dill, lemon thyme, and wild blackberry.

That is just a few of the plants that started blooming at the end of June.  Now, I am eager to see what's blooming in July!

Vintage Buttermilk Pineapple Sherbet Recipe

Vintage Buttermilk Pineapple Sherbet Recipe
Today I am sharing this vintage recipe with you.  This came out of a recipe book from a Florida church that my grandmother gave to my Mother.  It is called simply Buttermilk Sherbet. The best part is no churn and 3 ingredients!  This is my favorite kind of summer recipe.

Buttermilk Sherbet

Ingredients:
2 cups buttermilk
1 small can (8 oz.) crushed pineapple
1/2 granulated sugar

Mix and dissolve sugar thoroughly.  Freeze, stirring occasionally.  I just stirred it once and it came out really well.
You have to let it thaw a little to scoop it, but it scooped out nice too.
The lime sherbet I made also and I made it with a frozen Limeade concentrated mix.  I added a cup of that instead of the cup of pineapple and it came out more like ice milk and it was very hard to scoop.  It was just too much like a block of ice.  So, I think you could make other flavors of this, just use the fruit pulp crushed with the juice to equal a cup and it should freeze as nice as the pineapple did.

Are you enjoying summer?  We are savoring every moment!

Hello Summer!

Hello Summer: The Charm of Home
It is summertime and I am outside enjoying the view with a little tea today.

Hello Summer: The Charm of Home
This corner of my backyard is planted with a shade garden just for enjoying such as this.  My lovely little table topper is called Zinnia by Heritage Lace.

Hello Summer: The Charm of Home
I loved the vibe going on in this print.  The hand crocheted trim gives it a vintage design that makes it very appealing on the table.

Hello Summer: The Charm of Home

Hello Summer: The Charm of Home
It's hot outside so I am serving sherbet.  This is a 1960's vintage recipe for a no-churn sherbet that I got out of my Grandmother's church cookbook from Florida.  I am still trying different flavors of it.  I'll share the recipe tomorrow.

Hello Summer: The Charm of Home
The tea cup is one of my favorite!  It is Enchantment by Royal Albert.  It looks so lovely perched here on the table by the garden.
Thank you very much to Heritage Lace for sponsoring today's tea.  The product described was provided to The Charm of Home for this post.  The written description was entirely my own.
