Potting Shed Part 2

Potting Shed
Here is the rest of the potting shed. I traded out lenses to get more of it in the frame. The floor is just plywood for now; next year I might stain it. I don't think I want to paint it.

Here is the left side of the shed. I have a useful watering station with lots of storage in the baskets.

I moved the baker's rack out here also. I included a tea set because I like to have a sip while working, and I do sit down and enjoy the view out the door. I was really surprised how nice the view was from inside the shed. I will post that later after the flowers I just planted fill out.

Potting Shed
I take much inspiration from Japanese gardeners. I like the Nordic ones too, but my favorite has been Herbal House in Saitama. It is very Ghibli-esque and charming. It may be a little busier than what I am presenting here, but as my imagination plays in this space, it may get a little busier.

What garden shed could be complete without Peter?

And finally a place for my French colored gate. Hubs and I made this last year out of fencing scraps, and I had it outside all winter, but the wind would beat it around, so it is coming into the shed now.

Bearded Iris
So, back to planting because everything is blooming all at once about a month early!

January Cottage Corner

January Cottage Corner

I have been seeking a peaceful corner for my eyes to rest upon, and I have created it in the cottage corner. I have been surprised this year that I have learned how to keep a poinsettia alive. I have would normally have killed the plant by now.

January Cottage Corner
I have lit this area with natural light and candles. Indoor lighting can be so harsh.

January Cottage Corner
I changed the dishes out in the cupboard to the blue willow pattern. These dishes all came from my mother. I only had a gravy boat I found at a thrift store, and she had found most of these and collected them. Giving the cottage corner a cozy feel for January.
Do you change things up for the season?

Highland Thistle Tea for December

Highland Thistle Tea for December

Tis the season...I like to let it come slowly and with respect for all that it means to so many all over the world.

Highland Thistle Tea for December
This year I am enjoying a new combination of these Highland Thistle teacups with

this green willow teapot. I never have had any teacups that look right with this teapot, and I pulled these out this year and thought to myself, "Why haven't I tried these before?"

Highland Thistle Tea for December
The Highland Thistle was a perfect pairing to this teapot.

Christmas and Swan
I have found that I really like the swan for this season too. It gives a graceful and majestic air to the scene. Haven't done all of the decorating yet,  and I won't do much, but I will work on it. The older I get, the simpler the  better.

September Mini Bouquet

September Mini Bouquet
A September mini bouquet seemed to be in order. There are still flowers in the garden that look beautiful.

September Mini Bouquet
A pewter creamer is my vase. Creamers are often the way I love to create mini bouquets.

And since we have flowers for the table, let's have tea too.

A quail pattern on my teacup is so fitting for fall.

Peter Rabbit Joins Me for Tea

Peter Rabbit Tea Tray
Peter Rabbit has joined me for tea today. It has been a brutal winter with the flu going around, and it was time to put something cheerful on my tea tray.

Peter Rabbit Tea Tray
Nothing could be better for a cold than a cup of something nice and hot with a story from childhood.

Peter Rabbit Tea Tray
I have an entire cabinet of Peter Rabbit dishes that I have collected over the years. I will keep arranging the cabinet till I get it presentable, and then I will post my collection. Much colder weather is moving in now, and no crocuses are not up yet, but soon!

Autumn Story

Brambly Hedge Autumn Story
Brambly Hedge Autumn Story might be my favorite. I love the idea of the mice storing up for the winter and then, of course, Primrose gets lost in the brambles among the mushrooms in the dark of night.

Brambly Hedge Autumn Story
The illustrations in the Brambly Hedge series are very likable. The Autumn Story is like cozying up with a good book on a stormy afternoon.

I tend to opt for less words and let the pictures create the alchemy in my posts.

Autumn Story
Who knew muffins and a tea pot could tell a story. But, if you try hard enough you might see one with your eyes.
