A Spring Bulb Arrangement with a Tea

I have discovered I can create bulb arrangements for spring. This vintage Kraft cheese box was perfect for what I had in mind.

I am having pomegranate tea in my Brambly Hedge spring teacup with my spring arrangement. 

This was way easier to create than I thought it would be. I lined the cheese box with a heavy plastic bag and cut the little bulb boxes to fit snug against each other in the box. I spaced them out as I arranged them and then covered it all with sheet moss. I watered that in and waited overnight till I finished it. The sheet moss came alive, so to speak, after being watered overnight. I made some holes in the soil with a pencil and tucked in some already bloomed-out grape hyacinths. The ones in this arrangement did not bloom out at the same time as the daffodils. The other thing I added was some branches from my lilac bush, which were just starting to blossom. 

 

A spring tea seems fitting to celebrate the change of seasons.

Spring from the Archives

I have been blogging since 2009. I decided today to take a trip through the archives for some spring encouragement. I have no shortage of photos to pull from. So while I am taking a creative break, let's go through the older post. This photo was from 2010.

I used to buy some flowers for posts, especially the tulips in the spring. 

A very British tea. The tablecloth was a Union Jack made by me with scraps from a dress.

This photo was featured in Romantic Homes as a favorite blog. They contacted me and published three of my photos.

I have embellished a few cakes with flowers.

I have been successful at growing this rose. I still have it. I hope my other roses will be blooming out soon. I am sooo ready for some blooms!

Autumn Story

Brambly Hedge Autumn Story might be my favorite. I love the idea of the mice storing up for the winter and then, of course, Primrose gets lost in the brambles among the mushrooms in the dark of night. 

 

The illustrations in the Brambly Hedge series are very likable. The Autumn Story is like cozying up with a good book on a stormy afternoon.

I tend to opt for less words and let the pictures create the alchemy in my posts.

Who knew muffins and a tea pot could tell a story. But, if you try hard enough you might see one with your eyes.
