I have been wanting to take pictures of this autumn tea for awhile. It is not quite autumn yet, but, it is a sweet tale that gets me in the mood for the season. This "Autumn Story" of Brambly Hedge written and created by Jill Barklem. The story is about a little mouse family that is gathering supplies for the coming winter. As they are gathering their bits and bobs of food and supplies, they lose a member of their mouse family, their youngest daughter, Primrose.
The art on the plate of the china comes from the Autumn Story, a scene where Primrose is lost and exploring.
I was also gathering blackberries and freezing them for fall and winter dishes. I was eager to put my stoneware pitcher to good use with a blackberry theme going on here.Jill Barklem's art of the mice from the hedgerow is absolutely charming. I have been a fan since I first saw it back in the 1980s.
"Ease your whiskers, rest your paws,
pies and puddings fill the stores.
Sweetly dream the night away,
Till sunshine brings another day."

Thank you Monique! It is so good to hear from you.
Such a lovely setting. Brambly Hedge has been on my wishlist, as I've never read it. It looks so charming and I think my boys would enjoy it too. I love that you have dishes to match the story, and your blackberry pitcher goes perfectly with such a beautiful bouquet.
Such an adorable story and posting! Loved the photos.
I used to read that book to my daughter when she was little. I LOVE those dishes. So beautiful. ;)
