Candle Jar Makeover

This is a really easy way to recycle.  I have a candle jar that has burned out.  But, I always hate to throw away the jar the candle came in.  This candle had a really pretty jar so I just placed the jar down in a large bowl of hot tap water.  This softened the wax and I just scraped it out of the jar with a knife.

Which one is the candle jar?  My original cotton swab container in on the right and the candle jar is on the left.   Just an idea I wanted to share to help save the landfill a few more glass jars.

That is beautiful and expensive looking! Now if I could just find a candle in a pretty jar!

Good idea! I always hate to throw away the jars too, so I end up with lots of jars with just a dab of wax in the bottom. I'll try this!

I do this also, candle jars make for great storage containers! Someone left a comment when I posted about this to be sure not to use them for food, candy dishes, etc., because this glass contains lead.
Thanks so much for sharing at Amaze Me Monday!
Blessings,
Cindy

What a great way to re-use old candle jars. It seems to me that it won't be too many years until there are not glass jars for anything. Instead all products will be in plastic ones. Glass jars will be collector items. :)

That's a great idea! Whenever we can recycle, rather than toss...

I'm LOVIN' it! I never even thought of that. I just bought a couple candles today with nice lids. I'm TOTALLY keeping this in mind!

I reuse all my glass candle holders. I've found the easiest way to get the wax out is to freeze the holder for a couple of hours in my freezer, then use a knife to break the wax, and it all just pops right out. Then I can wash it out.

Also, I'd love for you to come by and link up to my new Oral Allergy Syndrome and Gluten Free bloggers page :) http://www.poorandglutenfree.blogspot.com/p/links.html

That is a great idea as I have one from Goose Creek that I would use to do this ( still some wax left but once I start to burn candles in cool weather again I'll use it up quickly! :)

It just grinds my gears when people throw these perfectly good jars in the trash. They're SO not trash and have so much life left in them! I love this idea for giving them a longer life!
