Garden Picnic Tea

Today it is time to get outside again and have a pretend picnic.  I am working in the garden and it was a perfect spot to set my picnic basket.

Just behind the picnic basket is the broccoli.  That looks like I will be picking it this week.

The picnic basket is filled with the spring and summer Brambly Hedge china and a lace table runner from Heritage Lace.

I found a book on the shelf for the picture and a pressed fall leaf fell out of it.  I am know to stick plant life in books and forget that it is there.

I normally grow the cut and come again zinnias but this year I tried this low bush variety and they are really pretty.  They have been providing non-stop blooms for the whole season.

I am so happy with my snapdragons.  I grew them from seed. They are just starting to bloom. 

One of the sunflowers opened up this week too.  These sunflowers have blooms all down the stalk.  I haven't ever grown any like this before. 

Have you been in the garden lately?  I can't believe it is August already!  That fall leaf is a reminder to start planning for the change of seasons.

He gives wisdom to the wise and knowledge

Start Seeing Geen

Are you soon to start seeing green?  We are, spring is right around the corner and the days are getting brighter so it is time to celebrate with a look back in the archives of my March posts.  This was a spring wreath recycled.

In 2014 I baked this Guinness chocolate cake with a slated caramel glaze that was so yummy.   

I dubbed the tea the Guinness Cake Tea.  

This post was all shabby and romantic in, An Irish Tea.

I practiced some forgotten skills of cooking with Darina Allen in, A Tea for March.

Last year I just pulled out my green teacups in Seeing Green.

And, I also did a book review last year on one of the most gorgeous gardening books I have ever seen it was, The Irish Garden.

I have actually taken on several book reviews and they all came in at once so starting next week I will be reviewing books again. I have been busy reading them!  I hope it is turning green in your hometown.

Poppy at With A Dash of Color shared some great tips in Styling Bookcases.

Lori at Dining Delight moved us into the Easter season beautifully with Ash Wednesday and her Lenten mantel.  I loved the meaningful symbolism in this post!

Think Spring

I am thinking spring today!  This is a food styling photo I took last year.  Teacup by Johnson Brothers pattern Coaching Scenes.

This is a photo I took in 2010.  I was just comparing this week and looking back at my photos and I was so gravitating to the spring photos!
