Cottage Garden: Zinnia Bouquet

Cottage Garden: Mini Bouquet

One last summer bouquet with zinnias. They look great any way you display them.

Monarch on Zinnias
The butterflies are back in force here, in the late summer garden. We have missed them most of the summer, but now that the heat has let up, they are frequenting the garden.

Cruet Set Flower Arrangement

Cruet Set Flower Arrangement
The cruet set was popular in the 19th century on tables to hold the condiments. They really aren't in use much anymore. I had an old one that I didn't know what to do with, and it occurred to me it would be pretty filled with flowers.

The thing I noticed right away is that regardless of which way you turned it, your flowers were lovely!

Cruet Set Flower Arrangement
It is really four vases in one.

I took it outside to photograph so the cruet set was more visible. This set has old, tarnished, and broken tops, so it really gave it a "new" life.
Do you have a unique way to arrange flowers?

The Moonlight in Paris Rose

The Moonlight in Paris Rose
This was one of my favorite roses I added to the garden last year. This year it has been loaded with blooms and has not disappointed. The name of this rose is Moonlight in Paris. The vase life on this rose is really great too.

Peonies
I have waited for years for this little peony to bloom, and this year it finally did so. I believe it is the Festiva Maxima.

The whole garden has been outstanding, and it is always at its peak by the end of spring.

A White Bouquet

 A White Bouquet
I have said goodbye to tending the garden, but I keep seeing bouquet potential in some of the flowers. So off I trek to the garden, cutting some flowers for those last beautiful bouquets. I have to enjoy it for as long as I can.

Cosmos
Nothing photographs in natural light quite like white. It is amazing. I believe the name of this cosmos is 'Purity.' The native aster is a weed around here, and I also included some blackberry vines.

Cosmos

Purity is a fitting name for this cosmos. It is absolutely beautiful. I have grown many varieties, and this one is my favorite.
Have a great weekend!

Preparing for Fall

Preparing for Fall

Summer isn't over yet, but I am preparing for fall by bringing in some plants. I have brought in some ferns and ivy. I hope to bring in a few more plants and hope that they make it.

Preparing for Fall

I have a keen interest in having a few living things in the house this winter. It adds a nice feel to the home to have something green from nature during the winter months.

I have also brought in my little green baker's rack from the garden to give these plants a spot in the cottage corner. Do you have any house plants?

July Bouquets & Randomness in the Garden

Zinnia Bouquet
The zinnias have bloomed and are perfect for making weekly bouquets.

Any combination of zinnias and other flowers for fillers is a welcome addition to the cottage table!

Scottish Moss
Taking the camera to the garden during a cooler spell, I noticed the Scottish moss was starting to bloom.

Nasturium
The nasturtium is also in full bloom, and it is so pretty!

Roses in Bloom

 Roses
The roses have continued to bloom. I have added fertilizer and deadheaded and been rewarded with repeat blooms!

Strolling to the garden to cut them has become my favorite pastime this summer.
