The Commander of the Lord's Army

Joshua 5: The Commander of the Lord's Army: The Charm of Home

13 When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand. Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you friend or foe?”
Joshua 5:13
The man with the sword was the Word and this is the title given Jesus in Revelation 19:13.
He wore a robe dipped in blood, and his title was the Word of God.
Revelation 19:13
14 “Neither one,” he replied. “I am the commander of the Lord’s army.”
At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. “I am at your command,” Joshua said. “What do you want your servant to do?”
15 The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did as he was told.
Joshua 5:14-15
The land that Joshua was standing on was holy because he was in the presence of the Lord in the form of Jesus Christ. Taking off your sandals was a form of submission to a Master in ancient days.
God speaking to Moses from the burning bush.
“Do not come any closer,” the Lord warned. “Take off your sandals, for you are standing on holy ground.
Exodus 3:5
All glory and honor to my Lord Jesus Christ,
Sherry

I love that scene with Joshua and appreciate how you connected it to Jesus.
