Cinnamon Roll Cake with Orange Cream Cheese Icing

Cinnamon Roll Cake: The Charm of Home
I found this cake on Pinterest.  It looked perfect for fall and tea.  I didn't change much about the recipe it was perfect as is, but I did add orange to the frosting.  That is an irresistible flavor to pair with cream cheese icing.  And, judging by the way this cake disappeared at my house you'll love it too!

Cinnamon Roll Cake: The Charm of Home
In slicing the cake it looked just like a cinnamon roll.  So much easier to bake without the rising of the dough or the mess!

Ingredients:
Cake:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup milk
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla

Filling:
1/4 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon all-purpose flour

Cream Cheese Frosting:
8 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
1/4 cup butter, softened
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
2 tablespoons fresh squeezed orange juice (juice from 1 orange)
1 teaspoon vanilla

Instructions:
Cake:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Grease and flour and 8-inch cake pan and set aside.
In a large bowl mix flour, baking powder, and salt.  In another bowl mix sugar, milk, butter, egg, and vanilla.  Stir wet ingredients into dry and blend until just mixed and pour into cake pan.

Filling:
In a small bowl mix butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and flour.  Place tablespoons of filling on top of cake batter.  Use a kitchen knife swirl filling around cake.  Bake for 40 minutes until a toothpick or cake tester comes out clean.  Cool completely on a wire rack and then frost.

Orange Cream Cheese Frosting:
Using a hand held electric mixer combine cream cheese and butter.  Stir in confectioners sugar until combined.  Add the orange juice and beat until creamy.  Ice the cake as desired. Can add some orange zest, garnish with an orange slice and mint.
Can chill to serve.
