I am having tea today in honor of one of my favorite literary characters, Anne of Green Gables. Anne has been my kindred spirit for many years. So, when Sandi of Rose Chintz Cottage was having an Anne of Green Gables Tea I was sure to participate. Sandi, by the way, lives on Prince Edward Island, Anne's fictional home.
My teacup is by Hotel Balfour. I have used it many times for the blog.
I have some original copies of Anne of Green Gables. They were reprints from when it was a hit from the original printing.
I am serving Banana Split ice cream by Blue Bunny. It is a hit with my kids.
My green and white transferware is is an ironstone pattern called Avondale by J & G Meakin.
My absolute favorite quote by Anne was in the TV show that aired on PBS years ago (1985).
"But if you only knew how many things I want to say and don't."
Anybody that really knows me will die laughing here, because I say quite a lot in person!
And my second favorite quote:
"Look at that sea, girls--all silver and shadow and vision of things not
seen. We couldn't enjoy its loveliness any more if we had millions of
dollars and ropes of diamonds."
- Lucy Maud Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Hi Sherry,
Loved your Anne quotes! I am in the middle of reading Anne of Green Gables yet again. I haven't read it in years and since I was hosting this party, thought I would indulge myself in this literary classic once again. I always enjoy it, no matter how many times I read it.
I am loving your green transferware and white china. The ice cream looks wonderful served up in the pretty dish. I am so happy you have joined me for my Anne tea party. It's always lovely to have you. Have a delightful week.
Blessings,
Sandi
Do you remember the time she cooked for an honored guest who couldn't come, but rather showed up unexpectedly when Anne had somehow, inadvertently, died her nose RED. I named my firstborn after Anne, as she has been my bosom friend for all my life.
Une autre très belle publication... je reste songeuse et une tasse de thé me fait doublement envie en admirant vos belles photos.
Gros bisous.
I love your dishes!!! And all things 'Anne'. I like this quote...'It won't make a bit of difference where I go or how much I change outwardly; at heart I shall always be your little Anne, who will love you and Matthew and dear Green Gables mroe and better every day of her life.'
the green transferware is so pretty, we have an auction business and don't sell very much of the green, nor the other colours but have throughout the years. I like the green and suiting for Annes tea. The white teapot is lovely too. Thank you for sharing...
So lovely! I'm not a 'green person', but I really enjoy your green transferware :) Greetings from Australia♥ ~Pernilla
Hi what a lovely blog. I really like that green transfer ware and the saucer is so pretty. I am really going to have to read Anne again....you've all whetted my appetite. Joan
PS ice cream looks wonderful too!
Love your Tea, Sherry! And, the quotes! Thanks for inspiring me to pick up my copy of Anne again...

I love your cosy vignette and your quotes. Lucky you to have that copy of Anne.I love so many of the quotes it would be hard to pick just one-I think Lucy Maud was a very gifted author.

LOVE your tea setting -- those plates are so beautiful in that green color! I've watched the BBC series more times than I can count but NEVER read the books -- I really have to get them! As my hubby is a pastor, this has always been one of my favorite quotes: "Mrs. Lynde says that sound doctrine in the man and good housekeeping in the woman make an ideal combination for a minister's family." My hubby has the sound doctrine . . . I'm still working on the good housekeeping :)
What a beautiful, beautiful post! I really must read through the series again, it has been awhile!
Thank you for this day brightener. :)
Beautiful post! I love your photos and the green transferware plates are so pretty.

What a beautiful posting! Your love of the beautiful word and the artistry of your photography is why I wait with anticipation for your next beautiful blog. Thank you for making my day special!
What a wonderful table setting for Anne. I am sure she would have loved it! How neat you have one of the older copies...I think I had a Scholastic paperback or borrowed the books from the library. Thanks for sharing your wonderful post and linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!

Oh my gosh I am re-reading Anne of Ingleside right now. I love the stories and the images they provoke and you have totally captured it.
I so love Anne and have always wanted to visit PEI. My favorite Anne Shirley quote, "Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it". Gotta love that :)
Your tea is positively lovely :)
Blessings!

:) So many of my conversations are liberally sprinkled with Anneisms. I love your books. I have only Anne of Avonlea and Anne of the Island in the old editions. I included them in my Anne Tea as well!
What a beautiful table you've set. I love your transferware china and the pretty cup and saucer. The book is a treasure. Lovely post! Pamela
I have been on a yahoo group dedicated to Anne of Green Gables for some time. In fact it has been long enough that it would give away my many years of being a fan. I hope you all have read all three books of course the first, being Anne of Green Gables and the second book, Anne of Avonlea and the third, Anne's House Of Dreams.. Love all three...
Hi: What a beautiful table! I love the green transferware. This party has just been lovely. Thank you for the eye candy! Blessings, Martha
Oh Sherry, I am so delighted to see your Anne post! I loved reading that series many years ago. You have created a tea table that Anne would have loved to sit at, and chat and chat and chat! I think I would have fully appreciated Anne's way.
Hugs,
Terri
Hi Sherry, you have created a beautiful tribute to Anne with your wonderful green transferware!
The old books and the lamp look so lovely and serene.
Your favourite Anne quote is "goodun" - I can really relate to that one, lol!
Thank you so much for linking to Heart & Home.
Have a very blessed week..Trish xx
What an absolutely perfect Anne Tea post.
Everything is so perfect.
Love your antique book, too, it's awesome.
Lovely tribute! The dishes are just beautiful! I never read the books. I had my nose stuck in a Nancy Drew book most of my childhood! I guess it's not too late!
Lovely post...Lovely tea
Have a good week
