Something about this colder weather just makes me want to curl up with a good book. I found a nice copy of one of my favorite author's works this week at the thrift shop for $1. Tess of the D'Urbervilles by Thomas Hardy.
My green tea is in a Wedgewood cup the pattern is Royal Houses of Britain.
This lantern is from an old railroad.
What am I actually reading? I am reading The Sea of Trolls aloud to my younger sons. Full of Norse legend and Viking berserkers. Very entertaining for young men and their mother!
In my more peaceful moments I am reading Fifi O'Neill's, Romantic Prairie Style.

I'm currently re-reading Two For the Road" by Jane & Michael Stern. It's little scenes of them stopping in restaurants and diners along the road. Easy read, easy to stop and start.

Interesting looking books. I have not read the Tess one, nor the others. I am surprised, however, that I did not hear about that one before this time! I had tea cups like that and I gave them away when I downsized. I still have the dishes , however. It is still warm here, in the 70's. But I always feel like reading and tea. Right now I am reading an old Dorthy Sayers mystery and some doctrinal books.

I love to curl up with a good book at this time of the year too, but sad to say I am still in redecorating right now. Can't wait until things get done and than I can read.

I am reading Kate Atkinson's Case Histories as Joe and I watched the series on PBS and I was fortunate to find three of her novels at Goodbooks our Goodwill fancy bookstore which I love.

I try to read the Bible daily, then for fun, I have been catching up on my decor mags. Lots of inspiring ideas, lately I've been looking at flea market finds. Your photos are just gorgeous! I collect transferware and have tons of the reds and whites aren't they darling?

Goodness Sherry, I saw "Tess" and thought how hard that book was for me to get through! I would need something a whole lot stronger than green tea to get through that book again! It took forever! I am glad you are reading something much more interesting!

That's a favorite pastimes...reading with a cup of tea. I am reading a Joan Aitken called Lady Catherine's Necklace which follows Austen characters and is quite fun...the Catherine being Lady Catherine DeBourg. Lovely post!

What a nice post! Perfect for this time of year and our cooler weather. I always have a couple of books going at a time..and right now am reading The Children Of Henry the 8th. A garage sale find.. I come home with books every week. What a great place to find them. Your price for that lovely book is...amazing. Some of the books I buy have not even been read!
I have found the old English so difficult to read..but it's getting easier all the time. Sort of! :)
Sherry, I love your Wedgewood cup! So sweet looking sitting on that lovely piece of textile! Right now I am reading a book called "The Time Traveler's Guide to Medieval England". It is non fiction, but quite a fun read.

So relaxing and pretty! I always hate to tell people what I'm reading. I'm a news junkie and I watch lots of CNN etc. during the day. So...when I pick up a book (or my Kindle) at night to read...I read fluff! I like contemporary romance. I'm reading a Debbie Macomber Christmas novel right now!
