I got away last week and put the blog on auto-pilot. I went to one of my favorite Florida destinations, St. Augustine. If you are not familiar with this city, it is a very special place. St. Augustine was first explored by Ponce de Leon; a Spanish explorer, in 1513. Did you notice the date? Plymouth was in 1621. St. Augustine is America's oldest established city, settled by the Spanish in 1565. (Photos: The Lightner Museum, Flagler College, Bridge of Lions, Crescent Beach area)
Also in St. Augustine is Castillo de San Marcos; oldest masonry fort in the United States, 1695.
Thanks for joining me today.

A friend of mine went to the fort and captured some apparitions on his camera. Very cool!

Growing up in south Florida, my parents took me to St. Augustine several times. Even at 72 I still remember it...especially the fort. Love your mosaics. You did such a beautiful job with them. They are beautifully assembled. HMM. genie

It certainly has an Old World look to it. Glad that you put the blog on "autopilot" and got away.
I was only there once, years ago and remember the St. Augustine hotel. Charming!
I love St. Augustine! I used to live in Jacksonville and discovered it then. It has great restaurants and shopping too as well as historic sites.

I visited St. Augustine about 15 years ago and thought it absolutely charming. I loved all the enclosed gardens, and the coquina blocks at the fort.
Wonderful!!! Cathy
