Home Sweet Home #12

Welcome to Home Sweet Home!  For this special day I thought I would create something very romantic.

To create this cone for my flowers, I just stapled together some poster board.  I then went to my go to place for vintage graphics The Graphic's Fairy.

I am trying not to texture every photo I put on here but I did just two.  This texture by
Kim Klassen  is called Luminous.

Everyone ready for the Royal wedding?  Will you be watching?  Are you a little curious about the dress?  I am so wanting to see the flowers!  The trees they have been unloading into Westminster Abbey have me extremely excited.   Predictions on the flowers?  I am thinking white and bright greens.  Can't wait to see that!

So, have yourself a spot of tea and enjoy the wedding, if your watching.  This Union Jack high tea post of mine is here.

White in the Garden

Whites in the garden can be so beautiful.  The ferns are unfolding and it is a wonderful lush time to enjoy the blooms.

I have edited most of these with Kim Klassen's Luminous texture.

Beautiful Spring

I went visiting today and got to view some beautiful spring blooms.  The gardens are just about to come alive and we have had lots of rain so it should be quite a show.

I used textures by Kim Klassen, Simple Things, Luminous, and the last photo was Serendipity.

Home Sweet Home #11

I am happy to join Debra at Common Ground for her Vintage Easter Inspiration Party.  Please go and visit her.  She has a beautiful blog and her home and ideas are very inspiring.

One of my favorite vintage Easter inspirations is the charming art of children's illustrators.
*Photography note- On this photo and the next one the light coming in the window made the photo look overexposed on the light surfaces. So, I added a texture at around 40 % opacity and it gave the overall photo a more even appearance.  The texture was from Kim Klassen.

One of my favorite illustrators is Beatrix Potter and her sweet illustrations from the Peter Rabbit series.

It has inspired me so much I have taken my pencil and tried to draw like some of my favorite illustrators.

It isn't just Beatrix Potter that inspires me I also admire Kate Greenway; illustrator from the 1870's, who drew such sweet images of children in empire waist dresses.

I love Tasha Tudor and the quaint little drawings she has that border her illustrations.
Mary Engelbreit is also a long time favorite.  I think that was the inspiration for this little chick.

This little mouse was inspired by another illustrator from a chapter book.  I can't remember which one.

I also love old postcard illustrations.
What inspires you to create?  Is it vintage?
Speaking of inspiration, you all are very inspiring and creative each week at this Home Sweet Home party.  I am so enjoying your post.  Thank you to everyone who joins me!  Have a wonderful Easter holiday!

Spring Textures

More spring flowers edited this time with Photoshop and textures.

This photo I had originally edited in Picasa and now I tried the image with a texture in Photoshop.

Here is the photo before the edit in Photoshop.  I like the photo both ways. What do you like?
Thanks for visiting me!

Home Sweet Home # 10

Welcome to the Home Sweet Home Party!  I have really been wanting to make this little rabbit for a special little one.   It was very thrifty I had all of the supplies.  I made it a rattle by putting two jingle bells in it's body.

The vintage eggs were some my Mom and I made years ago in a ceramics shop.  It was a fun way to make something for Easter.

Making my little rabbit look very old with some Kim Klassen textures.  The textures are called sweet treat and silence.

There is nothing sweeter than a little one's lovey, blanky, and a wee little book of Peter Rabbit.  Thank you for joining me today!
