What's your relationship status?

What's your relationship status?
MELANIE KRAMER, AOL
What's your relationship status? If you had to post your relationship status with God on Facebook, what would it be?
Are you in a relationship with him?
What would that relationship look like?

What's your relationship status?

When I first heard of a "relationship with Christ" about a year and a half ago, I wondered what are they talking about? Jump forward a year and a half and I have figured out this dilemma, but I won't write a testimony today. I will save that for another post. Anyway, I prayed about how to write this post, and the Lord told me "walking with God." Enoch and Noah walked with God. When you walk with God you definitely have a relationship with him. The Lord gave this message to Micah too.

O' people, the Lord has told you what is good, and this is what he requires of you: to do what is right, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
Micah 6:8

I'm still having trouble with the beginning of this post and the Lord says to me, "Seek first the Lord..."

But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all of these things will be given to you as well.
Matthew 6:33

Jesus is penning love letters to you all of the time! He is watching over you like a protective father. He witnesses your trouble, your heartache, and your pain. Your trouble writing posts. He watches from afar and waits patiently for you to invite Him in.
What's your relationship status?
He is always watching and witnesses how you treat others. Is it with respect and kindness?  He will notice; if given the opportunity, are you honest. (i.e. David and Bathsheba)

But I, the Lord, search all hearts
and examine secret motives.
I give all people their due rewards,
according to what their actions deserve.
Jeremiah 17:10

Jesus said, "I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the
least of my brothers and sisters , you were doing it to me!"
Matthew 25:40

He is penning letters to you all of the time, you just have to tune in.
He loves you...what God's love looks like.
He takes delight in you.
For the LORD takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
Psalm 149:4

He wants to be in a relationship with you as intimate as marriage. As here, in this verse when God is speaking about his people of Israel.

I will make you my wife forever,
showing you righteousness and justice,
unfailing love and compassion.
I will be faithful to you and make you mine,
and you will finally know me as the Lord.
Hosea 2:19-20

In this relationship he will refine your character like silver is refined.
You have tested us, O God;
you have purified us like silver.
Psalm 66:10

Refining is used by God to discipline us. Expect it and accept it.
I have refined you, but not as silver is refined.
Rather, I have refined you in the furnace of suffering.
Isaiah 48:10

Till he gets out of you the character he wants.

Fire tests the purity of silver and gold,
but the Lord tests the heart.
Proverbs 17:3

He disciplines you and heals you.

"But consider the joys of those corrected by God!
Do not despise the discipline of the Almighty when you sin.
For though he wounds, he also bandages.
He strikes, but his hands also heal.
Job 5:17-18

And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those that love God and are called according to his purpose for them.
Romans 8:28

What's your relationship status?
So, why do you want this relationship?

Don't you realize you become the slave of whatever you choose to obey? You can be a slave to sin, which leads to death, or you can choose to obey God, which leads to righteous living.
Romans 6:16

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit.  So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to death. But letting the spirit control your mind leads you to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God's laws, and it never will.  That's why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.
Romans 8:5-8

You want to have Christ live in you.

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you.
Romans 8:11

God's Mysterious Plan
Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down deep into God's love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, how deep his love is.
May you experience the love of Christ, though it too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Ephesians 3:17-19

That is what a relationship with Jesus Christ is.

Don't exchange the truth about God for a lie.
                                                                             ~Romans 1:25

I'm wondering what it means to walk with God

To "walk with God" means to live with Him first in everything you do. You seek to eliminate everything in our lives that does not align with this goal.
This answers it really well. https://www.gotquestions.org/walk-with-God.html

Last night the Lord gave me this message and said it went with this line of questions about "walking with the Lord". "Commit your actions to the LORD, and your plans will succeed." Proverbs 16:3

My relationship with the Lord is a lifelong journey and there is so much to learn along the way. Keep striving, Be still, and pray are the things I try to do each day!

God has Billy Graham and I on the same topic this week! Mr. Graham answers this question of Susan's also in his post today on FB. https://billygraham.org/answer/walk-with-god/?utm_source=BG+facebook&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=FB+General+Post&utm_content=BG+FB+Page&SOURCE=BY150FGEN

A simple and to the point answer. Just how I like it.

Our relationship with God is so important. I've heard the quality of our relationships compared to the difference between dating and marriage. Marriage involves a total commitment, but instead, many are just "dating" Him. I want to be "all in." Thanks for all the reasons why I should.

Sherry, your post is such a blessing. I noticed a change in your blogging a little over a year ago and I said to my hubby that I think Sherry has had a break through. {He knows some of my blogging friends by name now because I have mentioned you a number of times and he knew that you lived in IL which is where our son had been doing his post doc}. I am so looking forward to reading your testimony. I hope you write it soon. God bless you, my friend.

Hugs,
Sandi

I have had you on my blog roll for a long time. Great post. Love the video you shared also, as I had signed my last post with saying-
"He gives me breath and I give him praise". The video ties in to that thought. JESUS ROCKS. Many blessings.
