Rainy October Day

Rainy October Day

It was a rainy October day, and this one rose was calling me outside to take some pictures.

Plants I want to try to save have been tucked into the greenhouse for the cooler nights.

Rainy October Day
Most of the mums keep on giving a beautiful display, while some of them are fading fast.

Pansies are so beautiful in spring or fall. I always have them in my garden.

The purple basil is still satisfying the bees right up till the end of the season.

Rainy October Day
Rainy October days are comforting; the garden is saying goodbye to me one flower at a time, and in the spring it will come back one flower at a time after a period of rest.

Little Patio Garden

Little Patio Garden Gate
This is the area I have nicknamed the little patio garden. It has a section of fencing and gate hardware that has been repurposed into a gate for a backdrop.

Cottage Garden
I am reusing the swan centerpiece because it goes so well with the French bluecolor of the gate.

Cottage Garden
A beautiful purple mum and a pansy for fall in the urn I picked up at a yard sale years ago.
I have salvaged and collected thrifty finds for years, and it just now seems they have been coming together for the areas in the yard.

French Inspired

How do you all get inspired?  What are your best sources?  I wanted you to talk to me today about this.

Have some coffee with me.   Where do you get your inspiration for your decorating.

I live in a really rural area with very few magazine racks and very few resources in the library.  My best ideas have come from you.  The blogs are a wonderful way to see what is going on.

I joined Courtney last week for Feathered Nest Friday at The French Country Cottage and she had a post about her inspirations and the first book she featured was The French Inspired Home by Carolyn Westbrook.  Of course I had heard of this book before on blogs, but I have looked for it for awhile and not found it, so I ordered it.   I am now so inspired, this book was beautiful.  Some images from the book below, photography by Keith Scott Morton.

This was very Shabby Chic, I get this look.

 How beautiful is this?

Wouldn't you like to blog here?

All the photos above from the book: The French Inspired Room by Carolyn Westbrook.

A few parting shots from me.  Thanks for stopping by for coffee, please leave a comment sharing your favorite inspirations. This is another re-post.  I am doing some housekeeping on the blog and sharing some favorite posts this week that fit the season.

Home Sweet Home # 66

Hello and welcome to Home Sweet Home!   I have a little before and after here today in my kitchen.  Over two years ago I put these vintage seed catalog images on the wall and they really are still beautiful but they look like fall.  So I wanted a little change.

I couldn't resist the menu board trend and had the perfect spot for it.   Now even though I live in a house with all guys, they appreciated it when I upgrade the decor to reflect the finer things in life.

Although, they can't resist taking a wise crack about my cooking.  The post its say, "Who kidnapped Mom, unless it starts with the words flaming or burnt this isn't our Mom."  Kids!

Now I would like to highlight some of the posts that caught my eye last week at Home Sweet Home.  So many beautiful posts!

Vee at Thistle Creek Cottage showed off her happy spring flowers.

Becky at Thoughtfully Blended Hearts  showed off her spring flowers.

Liz at Quirky Vistas showed off her twinkle light centerpiece.

Kim at Too Much Time on My Hands gave us 74 burlap projects that are pinworthy.

Thank you to all who join me at Home Sweet Home!   It is wonderful to have you here!
