I used to really celebrate Halloween on this blog. I no longer celebrate it or honor any post that celebrates it by leaving it on my blog party. This year I am going tell you why I don't celebrate it anymore.
There are spiritual truths. They are how things work in the spiritual realm. The spiritual realm is real and it is written about in the Bible everywhere. I didn't use to see it but, the Lord has opened my eyes and I want to tell you how it works.
In 1 Corinthians 5 the Apostle Paul condemns spiritual pride. (I am using NLT.) There is a believer that is living in sin and Paul tells the church how to deal with this man.
3 Even though I am not with you in person, I am with you in the Spirit. And as though I were there, I have already passed judgment on this man 4 in the name of the Lord Jesus. You must call a meeting of the church. I will be present with you in spirit, and so will the power of our Lord Jesus. 5 Then you must throw this man out and hand him over to Satan so that his sinful nature will be destroyed and he himself will be saved on the day the Lord returns. 1 Corinthians 5:3-5
What is happening here is the believer is living in his sin and he has no intention of repenting. So the man is to be thrown out of the church and they let Satan destroy his sinful nature. Satan gets to work him over.
We see this written about in several places.
Job: (although Job was considered a righteous man)
6 One day the members of the heavenly court came to present themselves before the Lord, and the Accuser, Satan, came with them.7 “Where have you come from?” the Lord asked Satan.
Satan answered the Lord, “I have been patrolling the earth, watching everything that’s going on.”
8 Then the Lord asked Satan, “Have you noticed my servant Job? He is the finest man in all the earth. He is blameless—a man of complete integrity. He fears God and stays away from evil.”
9 Satan replied to the Lord, “Yes, but Job has good reason to fear God.10 You have always put a wall of protection around him and his home and his property. You have made him prosper in everything he does. Look how rich he is! 11 But reach out and take away everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face!”
12 “All right, you may test him,” the Lord said to Satan. “Do whatever you want with everything he possesses, but don’t harm him physically.” So Satan left the Lord’s presence.
Job 1:6-12
Jesus speaks to Peter:
31 “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat.
Luke 22:31
8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
1 Peter 5:8
I don't celebrate the pagan holiday of Halloween because the Lord has shown me how he feels about it.
Exodus 22:18
18 Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.
Galatians 5:19-21
19 When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, 21 envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Leviticus 19:26
“Do not practice fortune-telling or witchcraft."
Leviticus 19:31
31 “Do not defile yourselves by turning to mediums or to those who consult the spirits of the dead. I am the Lord your God.
Micah 5:12
I will put an end to all witchcraft,
and there will be no more fortune-tellers.
Revelation 22:14-15
Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.
Ephesians 5:11
14 “Blessed are those who wash their robes, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may go through the gates into the city. 15 Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood.
Revelation 22:14-15
Jesus' advice about our sinful nature:
30 And if your hand—even your stronger hand—causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell.
Matthew 5:30
Yes, even churches are celebrating Halloween. I would think real hard about a church doing this and decide if being a member is worth it. We all have The Choice.
As believers we are grafted into the vine and our actions prove our faith.
“I am the true grapevine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce fruit, and he prunes the branches that do bear fruit so they will produce even more."
John 15:1-2
All glory and honor to my Lord Jesus Christ,
