A message from the Lord, for me too.
And I want women to be modest in their appearance. They should wear decent and appropriate clothing and not draw attention to themselves by wearing gold or pearls or expensive clothes. For women devoted to God should make themselves attractive by the good things they do.
1 Timothy 2:9-10
This one is hard for me. I like clothes. But, that last line...becoming attractive by the good things they do. I could see value in that.
I question myself now, am I thinking like man or like Jesus would want me to.
Remember what Jesus said to Peter when Peter wanted to stop Jesus from going into Jerusalem and getting killed.
Jesus turned to Peter and said, "Get away from me, Satan! You are a dangerous trap to me. You are seeing things merely from a human point of view, not from God's."
Matthew 16:23
Do you think like the world on fashion or like Jesus would want you to?
Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.

I must admit I like pearls but nothing to fancy, I do try to do good thing's though. Your post has made me think this morning.

Sherry, this is such a needed reminder for all Christian ladies. We want to look as nice as possible, but to dress in a modest manner and not in a seductive manner! Thanks for your inspiring posts.
I'm loving all the modest clothing companies that I see popping up. I was raised with modesty -so this is not hard for me. I believe it's fairly easy to be modest and attractive. Not always in vogue w/ hollywood fashion for sure - but still sweet, cute and attractive - even current. Bless you on this journey!
I've always leaned to a more conservative look which to me is modest. I don't show anything that shouldn't be seeing it. I always felt beauty isn't about showing the world what we got...but to dress modestly. Dressing modestly still can be attractive because I don't think God would want us to be unproud of how we look. He didn't give us hair, not to wear it prettily, he didn't give us curves to be ashamed of. I think we can appreciate and look attractive in a modest way....after all he created us.
