I experimented this weekend with a fruit and chocolate sweet treat for the holidays. Something different than a cookie or candy, something that doesn't taste so overloaded with sugar.
I tried chocolate dipped tangerines, which were too sour. Then, I decided sweet navel oranges were the perfect citrus item to dip in chocolate. The chocolate I used was Guittard Semisweet Chocolate Baking Chips.
The chocolate chips tempered really well and dried with a nice snap when you bit into the fruit. I just dipped half of the orange slice into the chocolate and sprinkled with sea salt. The chocolate is still wet here in this shot. I photographed this later in the afternoon and with daylight savings time I was losing my natural light source fast. The teacup is made by Old Amsterdam Porcelain Works.

Making a cup of tea creates a space for just being."

Chocolate dipped oranges... Sounds like my new favorite! Yummy!! I've had chocolate dipped candied oranges and they were divine, so I'm sure I would like these.

I love this idea Sherry. A great treat without the guilt! Two of my favorites, navel oranges and chocolate, what could be better! Thanks for sharing this.
What a great idea, my friend. You are always so creative. Tea drinkers share such an amazing bond. Have a great week. Blessings, Martha
The oranges look great, Sherry! A very nice and healthy snack.
Chocolate dipped fruit looks like a nice alternative to my usual treat of cookies with afternoon tea.
I love the idea of chocolate dipped oranges. I'm going to make some next weekend as my mom is visiting. Thanks for the idea!
My garden club has an annual tea & one lady always brings chocolate dipped dried apricots. They are wonderful with tea.
Hi Sherry, I came across your blog on Hometalk while looking for bloggers close by. I'm in the Effingham, IL area! Just wanted to pop over and say hello neighbor! Following your blog now :)
Yummy, chocolate and orange are my favorite flavor combination for desserts...I would choose that over anything else.
Hello Sherry! I enjoyed the poem!
I think those oranges dipped in chocolate is so pretty. Learning to enjoy a cup of tea or coffee in the afternoon is such a relaxing and comforting thing for me.
Happy November dear friend!
Warmly, Roxy
They look really good! :)
These look fabulous! Every afternoon at 4 p.m. I call out "Tea Time" to our four cats and they come running for their food. I try to use that time to enjoy my own cup of tea, and I dearly appreciate your quote.
I love chocolate dipped fruits - never had it with oranges, though, but I see how it would be amazing!
