Highland Thistle

I have a thing for teacups made by Royal Albert.  Yes, that is a strange problem I know.  This teacup is my Mother's, I borrowed it for some photos.  It is called Highland Thistle.

Isn't it pretty perched here.  This book was a sweet gift from my oldest son.  He has a love for classic novels and in his search for some new titles he picked this up for me.  I thought that was very sweet.  The cosmos and zinnias are still blooming in the garden but their days are numbered, because we will soon have our first frost.
Do you have a favorite teacup manufacturer?

  1. I love Royal Albert, too. I inherited a tea set from my mother - it's Royal Albert but in a rose pattern. There is something about the quality of the RA china, isn't there? Sally

  2. What a BEAUTIFUL teacup and saucer, Sherry!! I love Scottish thistle flowers! I don't think I have a favorite manufacturer; I just love classic English and Irish china. :)

The teacup looks perfect on your book -- what a sweet and thoughtful gift from your son. Have a wonderful week, Sherry!

  4. Hi Sherry,
What a thoughtful son you have! That story is a classic for sure. The RA Thistle teacup is really lovely. I love the little leaf on the handle. I guess Royal Albert would be my favourite maker too. Their cups are such pretty shapes and they are timeless in their beauty. Thanks so much for sharing with us and joining me for tea today.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  6. I love Royal Albert too! That's a wonderful pattern. Just read a great ebook where someone believes he is the descendant of Bonnie Prince Charlie in modern day Edinburgh...fun book! Thanks so much for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea.

  9. Sherry, I am a huge china fan, and I love Royal Albert. That is a lovely pattern.

How wonderful that your son buys you classic novels, and that looks like PRIDE AND PREJUDICE which is one of my favorites. Mr. Darcy... swoon!

Hope all is well with you. I'm trying to get back to blogging, and I am starting with a memorial tribute to Mom. It's been a long summer, and I broke my hand which I hope will hold up to blogging. I have my brace off right now.

    Love to you...

    xo,

  10. Hello Sherry,
Your mother's thistle tea cup is wonderful. I adore thistles on a cup, and the coloring on this R.A. cup is vibrant.
I do have a favorite company or two (lol) of china manufactures. I love Limoges, and Paragon. O.k. E.B. Foley too, oh and Shelley, and of course...I love Royal Albert and Aynsley too and so many more! lol! I guess I love them all : )
    Thanks so much for sharing!
    Hugs,
    Terri

  11. Oh dear Sherry, I'm sorry I've taken a while coming here to visit and see your stunning teacups and yes, when I look at a set of dishes, my eyes go first to the teacups to see if they call me...if I don't like their shape, which it hardly happens, I won't buy it,lol! Thank you a 'ton' for your sweet, kind and generous comments on Victoria's FC celebration, I so appreciate it very much! Big hugs,
    FABBY
