Great Finds

I have been on a roll hunting in the thrift stores lately.  First, I found the Brambly Hedge sets and then this week I found purple transferware.

I have looked for this for a long time.  When you find it you must buy it.  The transferware won't be there when you come back.  I only paid $6 a piece for two dinner plates.

I also found triple silver plated vintage flatware with a shell motif!  A perfect set of flatware for summer!  This was on clearance it was only $10!  I got a whole 4 piece place setting and a few extra pieces.  Happy Mother's Day to me!  Well, when the kids get out of school I hardly ever go to the thrift stores.   They aren't into thrifting.
What great finds have you made lately?

  4. Hi! I like your dinnerware. I have been hunting as well recently but haven't found quite what I want. However a vintage shop opened in our area which is deadly as I could see myself going there all the time so on their first day I bought a red painted shabby tin bucket labelled FIRE with logs. Will have to persevere next time. :-)

  11. You are so right, you have to buy it when you see it because these things do not hang around for long. Lucky for you to have found two great buys.

  13. The plates are so pretty and the colour not one I have ever come across. Lovely silver too. I had a fun day on Saturday at some garage sales, vintage shops and an outdoor antique fair. A great day with some lovely finds (shutter, mason jars, black transferware, large green bottle etc.)

  15. I love the color of that transferware. Is it plum or mulberry? I've heard both. Either way, it is GORGEOUS, and you really scored on the price, Sherry. I actually looked at some longingly on eBay and talked myself out of it because I have too much china. I'm actually going to give a set to someone I love because I have no room in my cabinets. Years of being a magpie is finally slowing down. LOL Yeah, and if you believe that, I have a bridge in Florida I want to sell you. Let's just put it this way, I'm trying hard to be better.

  16. Shelia,
I am not sure what the proper color name is. I just call it purple.

  18. I will be honest - I have never seen purple transferware. I am always on the hunt for red and blue, I might have overlooked it.

  19. Love it, Sherry! Great find! I very rarely see transferware at our thrift stores, but when I do I always grab it fast. You're right ~ it is one thing you don't have time to think about and go back for.

  22. You found some wonderful treasures, Sherry. Love the purple transferware...as long as I have been thrifting I don't think I have ever seen a piece of purple, or it would be sitting in the hutch with my other pieces! Love the flatware, too.
    Have a great week...

  23. $6 a piece?! What a steal! I have one of the same plates in my collection of purple...don't you love the color? People are always surprised to see it...it is harder to find than most other colors. I found a set not long ago at a thrift store I'd never been in and just very randomly decided to pop in...I about flipped when I saw the set on display and the price was unbelievable! The flatware is so pretty to!
