Follow The Charm of Home on Bloglovin

Follow my blog with Bloglovin
Have you heard that on July 1st Goggle will pull the plug on it's Google Reader?  I put a note in my calendar to address by July.  I always hate these changes because besides all of the work you do daily it means you have to stop and investigate what the demise of the Google Reader is and what it will really mean to this blog.  I have seen a few people recommending Feedly.   Feedly boasts they now have 3 million new users do to the announcement of the retirement of the Google Reader.  So, on first glance I go okay, Feedly, there is a replacement...  but, not so fast.  Feedly is mainly used by tech and business readers.  Then at a suggestion of a fellow blogger, I received an email they were switching to Bloglovin.  I went to Bloglovin and imported the blogs I read into Bloglovin and it took less than two minutes.  They now send me an email of my stream of new blog posts everyday.  It is easy to read and better yet, it is the favored service by fashion, food , and interior design blogs.   They also have an iPhone app to read your blogs on the go.  So follow TCOH with Bloglovin.

  3. I'm getting used to Bloglovin now, and prefer it to be honest! I tried Feedly but it just wasn't giving me the info I needed. For Susie, you don't have to sign in using Facebook, just put your email address in instead and password and it will let you log in that way. Happy Blogging!! Chel x

  4. Yes, Chel I agree. I bypassed setting it up with the connection to Facebook. You can skip that step and just use it's feed. Be sure and go to settings and claim your blog. The already had my blog in their lists.

  6. Okay, this is going to sound really stupid but I've been avoiding this whole thing like the plague...is Google Reader the same thing as the "Reading List" of blog posts that automatically come up on my Blogger dashboard page every day? They are directly connected to the blogs I follow via GFC. Everyone keeps saying that Google Reader is going away. But does that mean Google Friends Connect is going away also? Help!!

  7. Hi Charm Bracelet Diva,

It is my understanding that when you subscribe to a blog Google puts it in the reader and in Google Friend Connect if you have a blog on Blogger. Google hasn't said that they are discontinuing GFC so it should still be on Blogger. But, the feeds in their readers will go away on July 1st.

  10. I switched to Bloglovin as soon as I find out about Google Reader is to close. As you I have imported all my Reader data into Bloglovin and continue to follow all the blogs from GR, yours too. I really highly recommend Bloglovin, it is better than Google reader.

  11. I don't know how to do all this stuff and keep up with technology. Thanks for the heads up, as it will give me a few months to figure it out!

  12. I have subscribed to BlogLovin' as well, and have claimed my blog. But... I am also trying out The Old Reader. It is really most similar to Google Reader, as it will allow you to see posts in their entirety if a blogger allows them to be seen that way (vs. truncated). I click through to read many of my favorite blogs, but there are some that I read straight from my reader, and so I like that option. So far, I am favoring The Old Reader. It's good to read people's opinions/suggestions. Thanks to all for sharing here! ~Sally
