Time to Can Tea: The Charm of Home
This week for tea I am getting ready to can.  Do any of you can?  I have a lot of strawberries and blackberries.  I have already made strawberry jam so, as you can see, the blackberries are ripe and it's time to make something with them.

Tea is in this Royal Albert cup today.  The pattern is Petit Point.  I won that teacup from a dear blogging friend Sandi, at Rose Chintz Cottage.  Thank you Sandi, I am still enjoying it!

I have my vintage apron with chicken scratch embroidery out today. Canning reminds me of my Grandmother and farm living.  The tea cake is Blackberry Bread.

Blue glass mason jars and The All New Ball Book of Canning and Preserving provided by Ball Canning.  Join me Friday and I will share a recipe out of this cookbook with my blackberries.

  2. Lovely photos, I wish someone would teach me to can. My mama did back when with her childhood friend many laughing stories, Dorothy her driend had ten busy kids and mama said it was akways simething but they manage to get canning in there. I remember mamas pickles the best... I love your tea cup, I own two and really want the matxhing teapot. I enjoyed my visit dearest have a lovely evening and new week. With love Janice

  3. A lovely tea time, Sherry! Your teacup looks right at home there. Yes, I do can, or jar. I just made strawberry jam yesterday and rhubarb jam a month ago.   5. Hi Sherry, I wish I had started canning some jelly myself, now you have inspired me to get busy! I did freeze a lot of blueberries! Your tea cup is really a lovely gift from Sandi... You both have great taste!

    I was originally going to can this summer but haven't done it yet. I have everything I saved from the 1970's when I was in my 30's and canned. Maybe next year. This was a lovely post and I thank you for sharing and linking.

    I never learned to can, dear friend!
    My MoMa was a 'working lady'!
    Instead of canning, we did freezing of our Garden's bounty!
    My Mother~in~law (farmer's wife) canned!
    Instead of teaching me, she gifted me with the Garden's bounty from her labours. In exchange, I cooked and delivered she and my Father~in~law's meals during canning Season!
    YuMMy cake served with your exquisite Royal Albert Tea Cup!
