Today I am sharing my Brambly Hedge china. I have never shared it all in one post, so it's long. Brambly Hedge is a series of children's books by Jill Barklem. The stories recount the adventures of a community of mice that live together in the tranquil surroundings of the English countryside. I think they are so dear to me because I had a pet mouse as a child and I lived in the country with a blackberry hedgerow. Anyway, here is the china I have in the seasonal order.
Spring
Summer
Fall
Winter
The four plates here titled: The Engagement, The Wedding, The Birthday, and The Picnic are separate from the seasonal tea sets but I pictured some of them with spring and summer because they fit there nicely. I collected these pieces at different times from a local thrift store they were manufactured in the 1980's. I enjoy them and thought it would be fun to show them all together in one post. They are made by Royal Doulton.

This may be one of my favorite posts - EVER. I simply adore the darling dishes. I have all the books but have never ever seen the china. How lucky you were to find it at a thrift store, again, I've never seen any of it in thrift stores. I hope this changes, as I checked the ebay prices (129.00 for one cup and saucer - crazy) and I know that I'll not be getting any there. Thanks for a wonderful post - I'll be a new follower.
ReplyDeleteSherry, I enjoyed seeing your collection so much! My daughter and I collected these dishes when she was a young girl (she was born in 1988). She absolutely loved the magical world in the books. One of my favorite pieces is a plate with a clock face which hung in her bedroom. I really must find it and do a post with it! Thank you for triggering the memories~~I will send this on to her! Linda
ReplyDeleteLinking over from ATAA. Just lovely. I so love B.H. also. I have a couple as well. My nieces tend to gravitate towards those when they come over :) ~Heather
ReplyDeleteI love Brambly Hedge! You are so lucky to have the whole set. They are just the cutest and sweetest design. I have only seen a cup here or there, but never any plates or anything. I am so glad you found them.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Terri
How adorable! I've actually never read the Brambly Hedge books, but they look like a fun read!
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry:
ReplyDeleteYour dishes are absolutely precious! What great fun using these! You have a wonderful collection.
Hi Sherry,
ReplyDeleteThose dishes are so adorable, I always admire them when I see them. Your Spring flowers are such a beautiful touch in your photos.
Have a great week,
Gina
I loved seeing your collection of Brambly Hedge china. The detail in the artwork on each piece is amazing. Thank you for showing these lovely pieces to us.
ReplyDeleteSherry I absolutely loved seeing our collection. I love the Brambly Hedge books and have all of them. I have long coveted the China, it is absolutely beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI just love these dishes and the story sounds wonderful! What a keepsake to have. I have never heard of the story or knew that the dishes even existed. I would love the book for my granddaughter....going over to Amazon to check it out!
ReplyDeleteHow pretty they all are. I remember them from the 80's and I also remember thinking about collecting them for my daughter but never getting around to it. She had a set of Bunnykins and I probably thought that was enough at the time. Of course these would have been lovely to take through adulthood!
ReplyDeleteSherry, I adore the Brambly Hedge china! I always thought mice were cute and living in the country I saw lots of them when I was a little girl. I have never had a mouse as a pet but I had hamsters. My kids had hamsters too. Now the grandchildren have them. How lovely to have all the seasons! They really are precious and I so enjoyed your charming post.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi

May the remainder of your week be filled with joy
sending hugs to you

Oh, these are so sweet! I bought the Brambly Hedge book collection (Seasons) for my granddaughter this past Christmas. I have been determined since she was born, that she would have a special library of good reading books. She loves this series, and I know she would love seeing these tea cups and plates! How pretty they are.
ReplyDeleteLovely set! Beautiful detailing, colours and shadings! feel like reading the story book too! Am wondering people must be finishing off the food offered in them and then must be staring mesmerized at the print. Thanks for sharing...
ReplyDeleteOh goodness, what beautiful china, books, and photos! How quaint and charming...I can see why you love them so much :)

ReplyDeleteOne of my all time favorites. I have none of mine left. Loved seeing this!
ReplyDeleteDear Sherry,
ReplyDeleteI just absolutely LOVED this blog and so glad to see there is another person, besides myself, that loves Brambly Hedge! Our kids are grown, we remodeled and so I decorated our tiny bathroom with all the different plates, to make it like wallpaper. Plus, I have more Brambly Hedge, decorated throughout the house. Doesn't Brambly Hedge just make you smile! Thank you for sharing and love all your blogs!
Have a blessed day!
Sherry, thanks for showing us your collection. I've never seen some of those pieces. Of the seasonal sets, spring has always been my favorite.
