I am having a flowering tea today. I bought this for my Mother and she let me borrow it back to have tea for my blog. A flowering tea is just an herbal tea that is in the shape of a flower when it "blooms" in the hot water. This variety was made with green tea, jasmine, chrysanthemum, and globe amaranth.
It helps to have these glass teapots to steep the tea in so you can see it flower. Mine steamed up so that I had to do a peak-a-boo shot to see the blooming tea.
My cake is a southern classic, Hummingbird Cake. I have never made one of these cakes but the family has pre-approved a re-bake! I think it is a new favorite. The link provides the recipe I used.
My mug is serene and calm with the swans swimming peacefully on it. The mug is by Roy Kirkham.
So there you have it; some fun new things I have never tried for the new year. I can't wait to have many more teas and especially some gorgeous food for 2016!

There's nothing quite as beautiful as watching a flowering tea in a glass teapot. I did a post yesterday showing what I am using my glass teapot for at the moment. : - )
