Roasted French Style Green Beans and Okra

My new favorite food is any vegetable roasted.  I have been roasting everything.  Today I have roasted French style cut green beans and okra.  I just found them in the grocery freezer section.  The Pictsweet French Style Cut Green Beans comes in a 1 pound bag.  You can get the okra packaged the same way.  I used one-half of the green bean  bag and about 1/2 cup of okra to make enough green beans and okra for two people.  I tossed them into a shallow 8-inch x 8-inch baking dish, drizzled with olive oil, and sprinkled with a little salt.  I put them in a 400 degree oven for about 35 minutes.  I like the edges of the pan to be extra crispy.  You may not like your green beans that well cooked.  I love this because it is quick, easy, and available year round.

  1. Hmmm. . . roasted okra? I've recently tried a similar method and it was not so great. I think I 'll have to give your recipe a try because my usual fried method is not so healthy. Delicious, yes, but healthy, no.
    I like the combination with green beans!

  3. Yummy! Roasted green beans sound delicious. I have never had okra. I am going to try barbequeing broccoli on the grill one of these days. That should be tasty too. Thanks for sharing at my HOME and enjoy your weekend, Sherry.

  4. I definitely don't get enough okra, but I'm always on the lookout for a good recipe. Sometimes the texture is less than appealing, so I'm looking forward to trying your recipe!
