I found this teacup recently and I am wondering who made it. It is very Limoges like. I can't tell if it would be French or Austrian. It is more than likely an antique and hasn't got a single chip, crack, or discoloration of any kind.
It has blue forget-me-nots on the front and what seem to be, maybe daffodils, on the side.
The gold leaf is somewhat mysteriously painted on one half of the cup and saucer. Maybe worn off ? It has no makers mark on the bottom but one hand painted number in gold leaf.
The teacup is a bit old fashioned and quite pretty. Does anyone have a guess of who made it?
I am growing very fond of it but, it would make a very nice gift!

Love the cup! My guess would be that it is German. Very cute. Blessings, Martha
ReplyDeleteLovely piece! It makes a nice vignette with the books and vase of flowers.
ReplyDeleteBonjour,
ReplyDeleteJe ne suis pas experte en la matière mais si elle était véritablement de Limoge elle serait signée...
De par sa forme elle serait de la Bavière cela ne m'étonnerait pas !...
En attendant elle est adorable.
Gros bisous
Such a pretty tea cup!
ReplyDeleteHi Sherry,
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry I can't help you regarding the teacup, which is, indeed, very old-fashioned pretty, especially as it is paired with the cheery daisies! Your first photo, for me, is a portrait.

WHat a delicate, charming cup! Have a nice week :)
ReplyDeleteI love your dainty teacup Sherry with the beautiful forget-me-nots. Wonderful composition and texture.
ReplyDeleteI have a vase from my grandmother that was made in austria and the tea cup handle style is so similar...
ReplyDeleteLove your photos of it! :)
I don't know what make it is but she sure is a purdy one! Very dainty and I love the blue posies! Thanks for sharing and coming to tea.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Sandi
It's a lovely feminine teacup and I like the pattern. If anyone would know the origin, it would be Martha.
ReplyDeleteThe teacup is lovely. All I can say is that does not belong to the usual "Mysosotis" (= Forget-me-not) Limoges pattern. But the same flower could have been used on other patterns.
ReplyDeleteHello Sherry, your images here are so wonderful! I love the way you have treated them. The tea cup looks Austrian, or maybe German to me. It is truly lovely, and a mystery as to why it is painted like that. There must be a story there!

Terri
That is so sweet! It is very pretty and so is your post and I'm so glad you shared at Tea In The Garden.
ReplyDeleteSuch a sweet teacup! I think it should be a keeper!
ReplyDeleteOh how lovely! and what a mystery-Love the delicacy of the painting. Is there anything similar online to compare it too?
ReplyDeleteI have no idea about the cup but I always love how beautiful your photos are and how creative you get with your display.
ReplyDeleteSherry, that is such a pretty and delicate tea cup. You have displayed it so prefectly with the books and old fashioned flowers. The lighting is wonderful..Happy Wednesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! I am thinking Austrian or German. Such a pretty and delicate pattern, and it does look like the gold has worn away. Maybe from hours of being cradles in hands cupped around a lovely cup of tea....Thanks for linking to Tuesday Cuppa Tea!
