I really need to work on my chalkboard lettering! Well anyway, I made a little "Back to School" vintage vignette on the buffet. If the kids notice it they will be smearing the words out. "Back to School" is like dirty words to kids not willing to give up summer vacation.
I made a burlap table runner with a primitive check this weekend. I really like how it turned out.
Do you remember the Dionne quintuplets? This is a reader for school based on the little girls.
I thought this was a fantastic find. It will be a gift for a relative who collects their memorabilia.
Are you gearing up for back to school at your house?

Sherry, the primitive checked runner is charming. The microscope gives me the chills as microbiology nearly killed me. I do love your whimsy though. hugs, olive
ReplyDeleteI love your chalkboard! Your lettering looks better than mine. Precious vintage books too.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Susan and Bentley
What a great vignette and it is such a cool idea (I won't mention it to your kids though). I'm lovin' your new runner and I'd give up something to have that beautiful blue server of yours.
ReplyDeleteThe primitive checked runner is gorgeous, as is your back to school vignette!

I love your school vignette. I do a vintage one too every year. The table runner came out so pretty with the checked edge.
ReplyDeleteThat is an adorable idea for back to school. How cute! I think I'd be celebrating more if it didn't mean back to school for me too! I love your table runner! Bravo. Your chalkboard is great! So is your lettering :) Tweeting this and pinning it from your site. Hope that's okay!!
ReplyDeleteI will do some bts decor this weekend. My girls start next week. I love all you old vintage finds. The Dionne quints were such a sad story. Poor girls treated like lab rats. Why was medicine so weird back then? Ok I am digressing big time. Love what you did. Have a great week. We are roastin in over 100 temps all week.
ReplyDeleteOh yes...we're gearing up for back to school over here! I can't believe it's almost here again. I love the saying, "The days are long, but the years are short." So true! Anyway, I love your pretty back-to-school vignette! All of the items that you gathered together are just perfect. And your burlap runner is just lovely!

ReplyDeleteI love your back to school vignette. As a retired public school teacher, I still get excited in the hall when its time to Go Back to School! Your vintage books are so sweet.

ReplyDeleteWe homeschool and we started back at it 3 weeks ago!
Hello Sherry,
ReplyDeleteYour back to school vignette is wonderful! I love all that you added - we once had a microscope - sold it after the children were finished with home school! I hope you're having a blessed week and I do appreciate you sharing with A Return to Loveliness,
Kathy
