Blackberry Season

Blackberry Cobbler: The Charm of Home
Blackberry season is winding down but, I still had a generous amount of them in the fridge and I just went out tonight and picked even more.  They are so huge with all of the rain we have had.  What to do with all those blackberries?  There was only one choice...blackberry cobbler.

Blackberry Cobbler: The Charm of Home
Mmmm! There is a reason I always braved the briers as a kid and would come home with a bowlful of wild blackberries. This is it!  This was a fantastic recipe.  It was for blueberries but, I just made it for blackberries.  I also added about 1/2 cup more sugar to the berries because I had probably 8 cups of berries in this cast iron skillet.

Blackberry Syrup: The Charm of Home
I also made blackberry syrup with Ball Can-It Forward day.

Blackberry Syrup: The Charm of Home
One of my sons came up with an idea for the blackberry syrup.  He suggested we used it in tea to make blackberry flavored iced tea.  It was a great idea.  I used 1-2 tablespoons of blackberry syrup to a 8 ounce glass of iced tea.

You have just brought back some great memories. I remember when my Mom would take me to my Aunts farm in the summer to pick blackberries. We than would go to her house and make lots of blackberry cobblers.

I love blackberries and have enjoyed reading this. Our blackberry season is about to get underway, probably in a couple more weeks. My cottage is surrounded by wild blackberry brambles and after the very wet summer the fruits are plentiful and swelling nicely. Something to reward us for the abysmal non~starter of a summer!

I too love my cast iron skillet! I never really cook with anything else once I learned how to season it correctly! Your cobbler looks delicious. Blackberries are a favorite around our home also. Have a great week and thanks for sharing.
