Baking Vintage Tea

Baking Vintage Tea: The Charm of Home
Tea this week was a vintage baking affair.  Do you ever try recipes out of old cookbooks?  I love to cook from vintage cookbooks.  They usually have some very low key but amazing recipes because they are tried and true by the cooks that put the cook book together.

Baking Vintage Tea: The Charm of Home
This cookbook was put together by a church.  It is titled: Favorite Recipes from Flagler County Kitchens.  It was a recipe book my Mom had that was from where she grew up.  I saw it at her house last week and took it home as soon as I saw it.  The recipe I picked to bake was the Banana Cream Cake.  I love how the pages are splattered with cake batter from a previous cook, probably my Grandmother.

Baking Vintage Tea: The Charm of Home
Here is how it turned out!  I love recipes from the 50's because you have everything you need to bake them already on hand and they almost always surprise me and turn out this beautiful.  I'll share the recipe tomorrow.

I haven't used this chintzware pattern for tea in awhile.  I just love this pretty pattern.  It is called Welbeck by Royal Winton.  Do you like to bake vintage?

I do love to bake from old cook-books. I have an old Mennonite book that is filled with simple and delicious recipes. I use it often. That cake looks so good and I look forward to the recipe. Love the tea-cup, too. Deb

I really enjoyed your post about older cookbooks. My grandmother gave me one published by her church. I treasure it for it has some recipes she contributed. Your china caught my attention for my mother and I both have this pattern and love it! I am a fan of all kinds of chintz china especially from England. The new Grace teaware from China has two patterns of chintz which I bought at Home Goods recently! Hope you will pop over and view my post this week! Have a wonderful week and that cake looks absolutely yummy!

Oh I LOVE your post! Really speaks to my heart! There is just something comforting about holding an old cookbook or handwritten recipe that can't be duplicated! Thank you for your post! Reminds me of times long ago! Blessings, Lynn

Surprise! A mid-week visit fom me! I love old church cookbooks like this. I had an old one that my daughter perused and loved so I gave it to her. I agree about the appeal, and the splatters too! Your cake is beautiful. I always think of baking when I think of fall approaching. But you do it all the time!

Oh that recipe book has to be a little treasure. And that banana cream pie looks amazing. It is one of my favorite cakes but I have never made it. I think you have inspired me to give it a try. This is the kind of post I love to read. Thank you for sharing.

And your china is stunning by the way.

Sherry, I love your chintz. What a pretty pattern. I almost always bake vintage. I do try new recipes now and then but the old ones I know best and they never fail me. Your cake looks amazing! I wish my hubby was more of a cake eater. Thanks for sharing and joining me for Tea Time.

Blessings,
Sandi

Hello Sherry, It is lovely to stop by for tea with you : )
Your tea cup and tea pot in Welbeck is gorgeous! I love that pattern and I have the same tea pot as you. I do cook out of old cookbooks, but that is because I am old...lol!!! I have had them for 30 odd years. They are falling apart.

Mmmmmmm, that dessert looks so amazing!
Hugs,
Terri
