Strawberries & Cream

Strawberries & Cream: The Charm of Home
I have a confession.  That got your attention didn't it?  I tried to bake a sponge cake and I ruined it, not once but twice!  Have you ever made a sponge cake?  They are tricky.  I finally gave up and made strawberries and cream.  If anyone has a foolproof sponge cake recipe, please share.

Strawberries & Cream: The Charm of Home
Strawberries and cream are really easy and they are delicious together.  You just chop up the desired amount of strawberries and  sprinkle with a tablespoon of sugar and then pour 1-2 tablespoons of heavy whipping cream over that.  Easy!  I had every intention of making a Victoria sponge cake with strawberries and cream but, I will have to leave that for another day.  It wasn't happening this week, even after I tried two different recipes.

I have another Brambly Hedge plate to show you.  I found four more plates at the thrift store and this is the first one, "The Engagement."

Strawberries & Cream: The Charm of Home
I believe this is a collectible plate but, it matches the other tea pieces really well and it is a nice size at 8 inches across.  Here is the Spring mug with it.

Spring has arrived here.  Everything is blooming at once. It is really beautiful.  Now to dig all my plants out and assess the damage from the harsh winter.

Hello Sherry, My Mother used to make an Angel food cake, is that the same thing? But my all time favorite was her pound cake. I want a slice right now ;o)
Hope you take some pictures of all your spring flowers. Out here we have very little that blooms. But it does look like we will have another bumper crop of tumbleweeds:o(
Blessings, Roxy

Hello Sherry. I love your header! And your post too. Brambly hedge is a favorite of mine. I am so glad you found some more. I never seen them in shops here.
I have never made a Victoria Sponge. But I wish you the best with your next try. The strawberries look delicious!
Hugs,
Terri

I'm not terribly fussed on cake so the strawbs are a better deal as far an I am concerned!

Those are sweet dishes you're using and I like the spring bouquet.
I use Bernideen's (Tea Time blog) sponge cake recipe, if you want to email me, I can send it to you and it's delicious and easy to make.

Sherry, I love the Brambly Hedge. Such an adorable collection you have. I made a sponge cake from a mix a while ago but not from scratch. I believe Bernideen has a recipe for sponge cake on her sidebar which I keeping planning to try. Strawberries and cream are always a welcome treat here. Thanks for coming to tea and enjoy your week.

Blessings,
Sandi

Strawberries and cream is quite delightful. Have you had blueberries and cream? Try it with frozen blueberries for an extra special treat, yum!
Your photos are so beautiful.
Have a wonderful day Sherry!

A feast for the eyes, Sherry. I love your Brambly Hedge, and will look for it. Your table looks like it sprang from the pages of Teatime.

Sherry, those plates were meant to be found by you. Perfect for your collection! I love strawberries and cream with or without shortcake. I've made angel food cake, but never a sponge cake. Haven't made an Angel Food in years. Need to again. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
hugs,
Jann
