Snowy Cottage Christmas Dining Room

I get inspired by other bloggers and I saw a few years ago that another blogger had a snowy and icy theme in her dining room and it really stuck with me.  It stuck with me so much that I couldn't get the image of snow and ice out of my mind for this year's Christmas look in the dining room at my house.

I really used a lot of things I already had to get this look.  I have white dishes, vintage crystal glasses, and a crocheted tablecloth.  The garlands simply make this icy snowy scene spectacular!  Especially when the room is lit by candlelight which is a lot now during these short winter days.

On my Christmas buffet I have a simple silver tray with a short 20 light strand of Christmas lights with a white cord also.  I laid over that a flocked evergreen branch and scattered mercury glass votives all around the buffet.  In this picture I have food on the buffet for the rest of these photos I don't have food on the buffet because the pictures were taken a few weeks apart.

I had made a Jam Cake, recipe here.

This punch was delicious!  It was a A Sparkling Cranberry Punch.  The recipe here.

Here is a closer look at the buffet.

The centerpiece was basically all from the Dollar Store.  I did a post on that and you can read that here.

The tablecloth is just beautiful.  It has a large snowflake like pattern in it that was perfect for this Christmas table.  Each corner drapes down to the floor very dramatically.  I just love that!

The place setting is just layers of white dishes that play well together.  The patterns are actually not the same but they work together giving lots of texture to the tablescape which is the beauty of an all white setting.

My favorite part of the table besides the garlands is the vintage Fostoria glassware.  This pattern is called American Block and it looks like cubes of ice .   The sparkle going on with this table is just beautiful.  I was so pleased that I swapped out my glasses with these that my Mother had loaned me.

Art is imitating life here because we have 11 inches of ice and snow outside this year for an early white Christmas.
Is it snowing at your house yet?

Your dining room is just beautiful, Sherry! I really like the look of the whites, creams & crystal. No, it's not snowing here but temps are much colder than normal for our area of the Arizona desert -- brrrr!

You have a great idea for the holidays by setting your dining room as a icy and snowy scene. The icicle lights are so beautiful and then the lights on your buffet add even more to the decor. This a wonderful tablescape with your layers of white china. My post is a tablescape of Nutcrackers, Santas and Deer and I hope you will take a peek!

Sherry, your dining room is so beautiful! I especially love the sparkly glassware on the table.
We've had quite a bit of snow here too this past week. It's -8 right now, so it doesn't look like it will be melting soon.
Stay cozy!

Hi Sherry,

No, it isn't snowing at my house, yet, and it probably won't till February, since, I literally, live in the Mediterranean! And, because this year I am more homesick for Canada and my precious family more than ever, and I am craving cold, and icicles and snowstorms, your 'snowy cottage' dining room is the perfect medicine for my woes!

This is what I call, 'Christmas cool'! ;-D

No snow in South Alabama! We were in the 70's yesterday, and 50's today! I love your lighting in the dining room. So cozy - and I always look much younger in soft lighting!

Your dining-room is lovely. I love all the white in it. We don't have snow yet in Brittany, but it rarely happens here anyway.
