I wanted to create a fun look for the front door on the cheap this year and you can achieve that easily with silhouettes. I took a black piece of poster board that was 98 cents and hand drew a branch on it and then cut it out. I used a child's coloring page to look at as I drew it out. The bats are found at the Dollar General Store for $1.
So, for just at $2 I created a really cute front door look that will be perfect for Halloween. *Tip: for any white areas showing on the poster board I just colored over it with a black permanent marker.
I got a mum this weekend. I just took out the impatients that were floundering from the drought and put the mum right in my planter with the other flowers from summer.
I bought an ornamental pepper for this pot in the spring and it has loved the summer heat. It is flourishing and is loaded with peppers. It is really a nice plant for fall.
So, I'm walking out the door with my broom and the lantern in my hands and I tell my middle son I am going for a ride. He thought that was funny.

jajajaja, last year I did something similar for my daughter's party at home and I also did a spider web around the doors with black wool, but your bats are better than the ones of mine
Absolutely genius! So simple and so effective. I'm going to have to go back to the dollar store, which I was just at yesterday, and grab some black poster board to do something fun in my front window. Thanks for sharing with us!
Sherry, I love all of the fall accents that you've added. I need to get busy!
Love that front door! Soooooo cute! I love mums also and just got one this week also! Hugs, Linda
Your door is cute! I was planning on buying some mums this weekend, but we had other priorities. I wiill probably buy a few this week!
Now if only my front door wasn't black, this would be perfect.

I love this! I wish we could do mums this early in Houston, but with the heat they would die!
I really think that pepper plant is pretty for fall. I might try and find one. Such cute ideas for the front door. Your little visitors will really enjoy it.
