Shell Garland

I have seen shell garlands in several places and I decided I wanted to create my own.

I just started with a cotton rope and strung it up across the mantel.

I used a jute rope and started tying the shells, starfish, and sand dollars in a pattern.

Each item had a feature about it that naturally you could tie the string to.  I didn't drill any holes to do this.

I plan to get a multi-season of uses out of this because I am going to try it in a coastal Christmas garland this winter.
Thanks for stopping by!

I haven't seen these anywhere, I've seen lots of shells but never hung from twine like yours. Great garland.

Hey look at us with the shells, Sherry! I haven't seen a garland done like this before--It looks very cool! good idea for Christmas. My shell collecting has slowed, but i never turn down a bargain or something I don't already have. Once in awhile I get real lucky. Happy WW!

Love your garland! Just getting ready to change over my home decor from 4th of July to August seashell beach theme and will try making one of these for my mantel!! If you get a chance, I am a new blogger - can you tell me how I can put my name on my pictures? I'd love to know! Thanks again for your beautiful garland idea!!

Sherry, love your shell garland. I love shells, and always love looking for them on a beach walk. I also love how you use your shells in the tabletop vignette. Great pics.
