Vintage Thanksgiving Party

I am happy to be joining Lynn this Friday at her site The Vintage Nest  for a "Give Thanks" party.   You can click on the link after Thursday night to view the other participants.
I created a tablescape with a little vintage in it for this party.

The postcards are vintage.  This is my favorite it was drawn by Ellen H. Clapsaddle. The other two postcards were drawn by Frances Brundage, both of these illustrators were well know for there enduring drawings of children for the postcard industry in the late 19th century.

The silver is English Gadroon by Gorham.

This plate is Asiatic Pheasant by Royal Stafford.  The china salad plates are vintage Haviland.

The table cover is old and the pumpkin I believe is an heirloom variety (maybe in a new color).  The shells are old.  You don't really think about shells being in Thanksgiving decor but, the pilgrim's were on the coast and oysters were probably served at the first Thanksgiving.  My Grandma always made an oyster casserole with the crackers on top, that to me was a Thanksgiving dish.
I am thankful to my Grandma Patty who served us a Sunday meal and holiday meals forever!  She is a fantastic cook and to this day when I think of a holiday meal it is most often the wonderful favorites she put on the table.

I will also join these links, go and visit them.

The vintage cards just *make* this one to me! I love such things, and the one with the young pilgrim girl in the cape with the birds around her is my favorite.

Your china and silver are also both such beautiful patterns. I would love some plates like that, especially for THIS season. Just perfect.

Sherry,
This is the most beautiful table. I love the wreath that encircles all of the autumn bounty! That pumpkin is gorgeous! I'll have to find out what variet it is. I would love to have those in my garden next summer!
I think a wooden table peeking out of pretty lines looks so welcoming. Your use of the brown transferware makes me swoon.

This is my kind of table, a little rustic, traditional and elegent!
Beautifully laid table, Sherry!

Sherry, your table is the essence of the season. The weath full of the autumn bounty makes for a perfect centerpiece. Love the addition of the vintage post cards for Thanksgiving. I have some of the vintage cards for the 4th of July and the Clapsaddle cards are my favorites. I'll need to look for some Thanksgiving cards.

Sherry, I love that you included the shells. Of course, you are right, they were probably part of the feast. I love the antique postcards. Your brown dishes are just gorgeous. I love the centerpiece. Thank you again for reminding me of my "lost" dishes. I would have been so disappointed if I had forgotten about them during this season. As a brand new blogger a few months back, your words were so encouraging to me. I had no idea what I was doing. Thank you. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

When I see this gorgeous tablescape it makes me wish we celebrated Thanksgiving over here! We always have a little Thanksgiving dinner at our house and my parents and my hubby's parents come too. I make a turkey, sweet potato pie and this year I have also been able to find some red wine from California! I will think of all of my bloggy friends when we give thanks this year!

I also wanted to say a very big "Thank you" for your sweet birthday message. Your comment really meant a lot to me! I am so sorry it has take me so long to visit, but I had a great week celebrating!

I hope your weekend is fabulous!

Best wishes always,
Natasha.
